Watch: Horrendous no-call at the buzzer gives No. 25 Auburn loss at No. 2 Tennessee
USA TODAY Sports

Auburn just played through another pitiful display of officiating.

The Tigers lost 46-43 to Tennessee on the road Saturday afternoon. Auburn guard Wendell Green Jr. had a chance to tie the game with a three pointer at the buzzer, but missed the shot and fell hard to the floor. Tennessee's Olivier Nkamhoua contested Green's shot, but did not allow him to land, leaning into the shooter and drawing what should have been a foul.

The officiating crew did not see it the same way.

There were multiple obvious missed calls throughout the game, but they were excused by both Auburn and Tennessee's inability to knock down anything. The officiating never really cost either team the game until late.

A similar foul on Nkamhoua (that wasn't called) was called on KD Johnson when Tennessee's Santiago Vescovi nailed a three-pointer plus the foul.

Don Daily was the head official for today's game. Not blaming Daily for Auburn's lack of success in other areas - The Tigers could have won by making more shots - but the Tigers are 5-7 in their last 12 games he's officiated. The most recent game Daily oversaw was the Mississippi State game, which notably included another pathetic performance from the officiating crew.

There needs to be more accountability when egregious misses like today's happen.
