Indiana basketball guard Xavier Johnson was in the middle of the action again at the end of the first half against No. 1o Illinois.
With just over five seconds remaining in the half, Johnson drove the ball full court and finished through contact at the rim. He then tossed the ball at Illinois center Coleman Hawkins. Hawkins then had to be held back numerous times by teammates as the teams went into the locker room.
After a quick review, Johnson was assessed a technical foul.
This is the third game since retuning from a seven-game absence where Johnson has been assessed a flagrant foul or technical. It started when he was ejected against Rutgers.
Johnson got his first start against Illinois since that Rutgers game on January 9. He had eight points and two assists int he first half.
Indiana basketball led for the first 15:46 of game action but went into the half down eight.
