Watch: Northwestern, Georgetown make case for CBB preseason with laughable play

College basketball is back and better than ever. Well, maybe we should cool it on the "better than ever" part for now.

Most professional sports have preseasons. In fact, they seemingly all do.

College football at least has spring ball, and all the big-time programs seem to schedule cupcake games to begin their campaigns, basically using the first month of the "regular season" as a tune-up. (Here's looking at you, Michigan.)

College basketball isn't like that, though, and God bless the schedule-makers for that. Sure, Michigan State (for instance) played Northern Arizona to tip off the season, but the Spartans had a clash with No. 2 Gonzaga up next on the schedule just a few days later.

Georgetown played Coppin State and Green Bay in games one and two, but then it was right on to Northwestern in a matchup that has delivered its fair share of "lowlights."

If the "powers that be" in college basketball ever feel like creating an actual preseason in which the wins and losses don't matter — this clip of the tomfoolery between the Hoyas and Wildcats should be shown.

It will be interesting to see where either program ends up by March, but these two teams are clearly rusty and could use some more practice.

At the very least, they could use another game or two that doesn't count toward March Madness seedings.
