NEW ORLEANS - MARCH 20: Coach John Calipari of the Kentucky Wildcats talks to his team during the second round of the 2010 NCAA men's basketball tournament at the New Orleans Arena on March 20, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Dave Martin/Getty Images)
Why the Indiana Hoosiers Will Be No.1 Next SeasonWith all do respect to John Calipari and the 2012 National Champion Kentucky Wildcats, they’ll be looking up in the rankings when the 2012-2013 season kicks off next year. The team they’ll be chasing is the Indiana Hoosiers.  Dont’ act surprised. Tom Crean’s rebuilding phase is over and it showed this year.  Indiana will return four starters, including All-American center Cody Zeller and Christian Watford.  For those who think Watford will declare for the NBA draft, you’re wrong.  He’s projected to be a late second round pick so rest assured he’ll be back for one more year to increase his stock price. image credit:youtube.com Crean also reeled in the second ranked recruiting class in the nation bringing in five highly touted, athletic freshman who will give Crean the depth he needs to get deep into the NCAA tournament next spring.  Five-star prospects Hanner Perea and Kevin Ferrell will play a huge role for Crean.  You won’t be hearing the words underdog and Indiana in the same sentence next year either. In fact they’ll have considerable pressure on them to win how they respond to that will make or break their prospect at having a sensational season. Pre-ranking the Hoosiers at No.1 isn’t far fetched at all. In fact, its a testament to how hard Tom Crean has worked to put this group together.  They proved a lot this year and gave Kentucky a run for their money in the Sweet 16.  Hoosier Nation is back and get used to hearing about it.
