The Cardinal Connect:
The Louisville basketball team was forced to take a rare game day flight to Hartford, CT., for tonight’s Big Monday match-up against Connecticut.
The team was scheduled to depart yesterday afternoon, but had their flight delayed until today, due to severe fog. Louisville’s plane landed in Connecticut approximately four hours before tipoff.
Rick Pitino has the reputation of being one of the best in the country at keeping his team in excellent shape. That my come in handy with this being Louisville’s second game in a little over 48 hours. The Huskies are also playing their second game in three days, but to be fair, they didn’t have to travel on game day.
There is no reason to panic at this point, but this game may be one of the tougher games on the schedule for Louisville this season. I think it’s fair to say that Duke and Missouri are the only two teams that Louisville has played that are better than UConn. The Huskies are playing their best basketball of the season right now and hav...

Louisville’s 64-38 victory over South Florida is the 10th straight victory for the Cards.
The Bulls 38 points is the lowest ever in USF history and ties with the Cards match-up against College of Charleston for the fewest allowed this season.
Senior point guard Peyton Siva scored 17 points en route to joining Louisville’s all time career 1000 point scorers. The UofL program...
Behind a dominant performance from Russ Smith, Louisville topped Uconn 73-58. This was the first regular season game in program history that Louisville has played ranked as the #1 team in the AP Poll.
Russ Smith was brilliant and kept the Cardinals in the game early. His 23 points all seemed to be at his own will. His reckless abandon to the basket payed off and he shined on...
Injuries are a part of any game. But in college basketball when they strike more than one player, it can leave you shorthanded.
Fortunately for the UConn Huskies women's basketball team, Bria Hartley was able to return from a sprained ankle suffered on Saturday. And she showed no ill effects from the injury.
Hartley had 16 points and seven rebounds to help the No. 3/2...
Russ Smith scored 23 points and Gorgui Dieng had six points and

Charlie Strong and the Louisville football program will host a number of visitors over the next couple of weeks. One prospect that Coach Strong and his staff are hoping to see is James Hearns, a 6-foot-3 235-pound defensive end from Tallahassee, FL.
Hearns has been verbally committed to Florida since last February, but there has been some speculation that Hearns may be second guessing...
The University of Louisville and South Florida basketball programs have met 30 times since 1985, with UofL winning 26 times, but none of them more satisfying than the 64-38 crushing of the visiting Bulls Saturday.
Typically the games have been in slow motion, USF agonizing every minute out of the clock with slowdown basketball, attempting to lull participants and onlookers into dreamland...

For a second straight year a team made a big time statement in the Sugar Bowl as Louisville took down the mighty Florida Gators, who were ranked 3rd in the nation, by a score of 33-23, a score that wasn't totally indicative of how that game went. The MVP of that game? Cardinals QB Teddy Bridgewater, who...
University of Louisville football coach Charlie Strong is on the road recruiting and will stop by Flowery Branch, Ga., High School tomorrow. He’ll visit Chandler Bridges, who has already committed, and will try to flip a three-star safety. Cardinal Authority has the latest on recruiting efforts by Strong.
When the new AP and USA Today college basketball polls are released on Monday, there’s a good chance you’ll see the Louisville Cardinals sitting on top of them. With Duke losing to North Carolina State on Saturday, and Michigan falling to Ohio State on Sunday, the Cards would appear to be next in line to sit at number one. Duke could still make a claim for the top spot since...
