Wisconsin Basketball Star Announces Transfer to Blue-Blood Program

Wisconsin basketball star AJ Storr declared for the NBA Draft to test the waters while entering the transfer portal to keep his options open. Things were quiet for a while, but now we have our answer on Storr’s plans for the upcoming season.

Storr revealed that he won’t be back with the Badgers next season. Instead, the second-team All-Big Ten wing announced he’d become a Kansas Jayhawk next basketball season.

“With great excitement and humility, I announce my commitment to the University of Kansas Basketball program,” Storr wrote. “Joining the Jayhawks is a dream realized, and I’m incredibly honored for this opportunity to be a part of the tradition and culture of Kansas Basketball.”

There have been a lot of rumors since the Wisconsin basketball star entered the portal and even a crystal ball prediction on 247Sports that he would land with Big Ten rival, Illinois.

The Jayhawks were the hot name early, but Illinois quickly became the favorite with rumors of the Illini willing to spend a good amount to get the Illinois-native to Champaign.

According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, the finalists were Kansas, Arkansas (under new head coach, John Calipari), Illinois, and Texas.

Ultimately, AJ Storr chose Bill Self and the Jayhawks. Kansas is a great spot for the former Wisconsin basketball player to get into the NBA.

While it’s not fun for Badgers fans to see one of the best, if not their best player, on the team, enter the portal, I’m sure they are a bit relieved to know they won’t be seeing him suit up in orange and playing the Badgers next season.

But even still, I don’t think Storr going to the Jayhawks over Illinois helps too much right now, considering Chucky Hepburn is following suit and entering the portal.

Wisconsin basketball is definitely on the struggle bus right now.
