CINCINNATI Xavier and Cincinnati announced suspensions Sunday forbasketball players involved in the brawl that prematurely ended Saturday'sgame. Both universities went soft. Cincinnati gave six-game suspensions to three players, one being Yancy Gates,who threw the ball at Xavier's Tu Holloway at the start of the fracas andpunched Kenny Frease in the face. The punch knocked Frease to the floor and ledto Frease getting stomped on by Cincinnati's Cheikh Mbodj, who also will misssix games. Gates throwing the ball at Holloway is what led to fists flying and Cincinnatiplayers coming off the bench.
