PLAYERS: Scoop Jardine
TEAMS: Syracuse Orange
Antonio “Scoop” Jardine a Philadelphia Local and graduate of Neumann-Goretti Highschool, has earned a lot of fans in his college basketball career at Syracuse University. The Philadelphia native is a player “transformed” after five years with the Orange, averaging 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.5 steals this season. One fan who’s especially sad to see “SCOOOOOOP!” leave this year is a 3-year-old boy who loves Orange basketball. His mother filmed him crying as he found out the upcoming NCAA Tournament would be Jardine’s last games with the team. “Scoop Jardine‘s biggest little fan is sad after I told him this was Scoop’s last season,” YouTube user mommybean0317 wrote in the video description. “I want Scoop on my team still,” the tearful little guy says. “But he’s graduating,” Mom says. Scoop himself watched the video and posted on Twitter, “Must watch!” with a link for his followers to see it, too. Teammate Griffin Hoffmann tweeted back, “I don’t want

Open Letter to Big East Media Who Didn’t Vote Boeheim Coach of the Year

Courant.com Dear Big East Media, A horrible injustice has been done and it needs to be corrected now. How did you vote Stan Heath Coach of the Year over Jim Boeheim? USF had a nice season, gave plenty of good teams excellent efforts, and overall took a step forward as a program. But Boeheim not winning COY is a travesty. Please consider: Boeheim is a Hall of Fame coach, known more...

Amid another scandal, Syracuse heads for Garden

Jim Boeheim conducted a light afternoon workout on Tuesday for his second-ranked Orange, then it was off to New York for the Big East tournament. Less than 24 hours after the university said it had self-reported possible violations of its internal drug policy and that an NCAA inquiry was under way, the team's focus was on basketball as it has been all through a memorable yet...

Report: Syracuse violated drug policy

The Syracuse men's basketball program failed to adhere to its internal drug policy while playing ineligible players over the past decade, according to a three-month investigation by Yahoo Sports. The report Monday, citing anonymous sources, says at least 10 players since 2001 have tested positive for a banned recreational substance or substances. It's unknown if any current...

Yahoo Reports Syracuse Repeatedly Violated Internal Drug Policy

Syracuse just completed a terrific regular season in which it lost only one game, but it appears that Jim Boeheim’s crew may have more to worry about this week than its opponents in the Big East Tournament. A report by Yahoo’s Charles Robinson and Pat Forde has apparently revealed that over the past decade-plus, Syracuse has repeatedly violated its own internal drug policy. ...

Report : Syracuse basketball players failed drug tests but were still eligible

Syracuse is having one of their best seasons in program history but they have many distractions over the season. First the Bernie Fine mess, now there are reports that Syracuse men’s basketball players have had positive drug tests and they continued playing and practicing with the team. This according to a report done by Yahoo Sports. It is not a good thing When Yahoo...

Syracuse reports possible violations

Syracuse University has self-reported possible violations of its internal drug policy and an NCAA inquiry is under way, according to school officials. Kevin Quinn, senior vice president for public affairs for the university, says the inquiry does not involve any current student-athletes. In a report Monday, Yahoo! Sports said a three-month investigation it conducted showed that...

Jim Boeheim does not know E-Mailing

Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim told Pete Thamel (They stole the picture I use of Boeheim all the time, grrr.) of the NY Times that he has never sent an email, ever. That’s a neat factoid. Let the madness begin. Also, Syracuse does not have to ever deal with that Jim Tressel college football dilemma with their college basketball team. Unfortunately, they have other issues to handle...

Yahoo’s Charles Robinson Says Bernie Fine Scandal Prompted Drug Findings

Chalk up another victim of the Bernie Fine scandal. Not only did the long time assistant coach lose his job, and the program receive some serious collateral damage, but this was the genesis of the Yahoo! Sports drug report. Charles Robinson says the reason he began poking around the SU basketball program was because of the Fine Scandal. “This really stretches back to when assistant...

Cuse Hoops Weekend in Review

Against Louisville on Saturday, the Syracuse hoops team finally started to look a little more like the team that dominated against early season Big East opponents. Instead of eking the win, they generally played well for the last 30 minutes of the game. This team still seems to lack the killer instinct that many championship teams possess, which was once again evidenced in the second...
