Hawes says goodbye to Washington after only 1 year

This is a mistake. Hawes, a McDonald's All-American in high school will declare himself eligible for the NBA Draft but not hire an agent, leaving him the possibility to return to the Huskies. Nevertheless, I think this is way too premature for a guy who was slowed by injury and illness all year and   more...

Washington Huskies lose another basketball player

Lorenzo Romar lost another one of his promising 2006 recruits, as forward Phil Nelson has decided to transfer to Portland State. This comes on the heels of center Spencer Hawes declaring himself eligible for the draft (although he didn't hire an agent). Is the Husky program a sinking ship?

Once Again PAC-10 Proves Dominance

Keeping with tradition, I post an article that shows a west coast team whooping up on a team from the overrated east (or in this case south).

The Real Reason Husky Men's Basketball Program Has Fallen Apart

The two latest downturns in Husky basketball were caused by two unlikely sources, our star centers. Todd MacCulloch in the late '90s and Spencer Hawes in '06 were effective low post players but their mere presence completely hijacked the Huskies style of play. Their respective departures were   more...

California beats #24 Washington in OT!

The Washington Huskies' Pac-10 woes continue as they lost again Saturday, this time to California 77-69 in OT. That makes the Huskies 1-5 in Pac-10 play, and raises questions as to how overrated they are. Spencer Hawes, the much heralded freshman, led them in scoring but has not been as big a   more...

PAC 10 Power

I know all you East Coasters wont agree because you will never give the West the love it deserves for sports, but the Washington win over UCLA is big for the PAC 10. The PAC 10 has solid basketball from top to bottom right now, and this shows it. #5 UCLA went into top 20 WSU and won, and then lost   more...

Cardinal Upset the Huskies, Lopez outduels Hawes

The Stanford Cardinal just extended their home winning streak over the Huskies to 14 games, with a hard fought 78-77 win. Anthony Goods, Lawrence Hill, and Robin Lopez, put in 19, 18 and 17 respectively to lead the team. The Cardinal went ice cold from beyond the arc in the second half, but despite   more...

Bruins caught hibernating, falls to 9th place Washington 71-61

UCLA entered Bank of America Arena as the #5 team in the nation, looking to move up after the loss of UNC to Duke earlier in the week. Unfortunately for the Bruins, they came out sluggish and failed to capitalize on their chance to stay in first place in the Pac-10. It was the 4th straight loss for   more...

Zags fall to unranked Washington State.

I guess that's what I get. After propping up the Zags as a collegiate basketball powerhouse yesterday, my boys in blue turned around and dropped a 77-67 contest yesterday to the Washington State Cougars. The win snapped the Cougs seven-game losing streak at the hands of the Zags and dropped GU to   more...

Beavers look to jumpstart season with upset over Washington

Can the young Huskies build on the success of defeating Oregon (although without POY candidate Aaron Brooks)? That seems to be the question, as the Huskies dropped to the bottom of the Pac-10 after being a pre-season favorite and national title contender. Meanwhile, the Beavers suck again, and it   more...

Pac-10 Freshman of the Year Race

The front runners are Arizona's Chase Budinger (think Napoleon Dynamite with game), Washington's Spencer Hawes and Quincy Pondexter, Oregon's Tajuan Porter, and Cal's Ryan Anderson. With this new NBA rule, we have the privilege of watching the development of perhaps the best freshman class in the   more...

Shawn Kemp: Back in Seattle?

Shawn Kemp is a 17 year old power forward from Georgia. He is 6-9, and has some of the same facial features of his father, Shawn Kemp the Seattle Sonics legend, who he doesn't talk to much. Kemp is ranked 83rd of all high school basketball prospects by Scout.com. And one of his main interests at   more...
