Evaluating Logan Aronhalt to Maryland
Maryland Terrapin fans were delivered a bit of a shock when Terrell Stoglin opted for the NBA in the final moments of underclassmen declarations. It turned out that he'd been suspended for the year, so he really had little choice. Couple this with Pe'Shon Howard's knee surgery, Sean Mosley's graduation and the transfer of Mychal Parker, and depth on Maryland's...

Terrell Stoglin leaves Maryland with suspension looming
It's a bombshell, and seemingly out of leftfield; but it's true. Terrell Stoglin is leaving the University of Maryland after two seasons. Apparently, he never bought into Turgeon's system and the coach's view for their future together.
The result is that Stoglin has been encouraged to leave the program. It's shocking, but Mark Turgeon has a vision and...

Freshman Faust elevates Maryland
Maryland assistant coach Dalonte Hill pulled Nick Faust to the side while the freshman made his way down the bench, presumably to offer mild words of encouragement following a dynamic blown dunk from the 6-foot-5 guard. Hill palmed Fausts neck, spoke briefly in his ear, then let him continue to his seat.
Faust planted himself in the padded ACC chair and looked up, a grin fixed on...

Two Pretty Great Quotes From A Pretty Great Maryland-UNC Game
That Maryland lost a close one to UNC is not the point. The point is that Maryland, a team of underclassmen thought to be at least a year away from anything, was able to push a star-studded, No. 5-ranked team to the brink.
Bravo to that, and to the continued development of freshman seven-footer Alex Len, who basically took on UNC’s All-American frontcourt by himself. Anyway...

Mark Turgeon working with a replenished Maryland roster
The addition of Pe'Shon Howard and Alex Len to Maryland's rotation provides the Terrapins with much-needed depth. Quietly, it also adds a major item to Mark Turgeon's coaching toolbox: Some control in doling out playing time. "You have them rather than them having you," Turgeon said after Wednesday's 83-72 defeat ...

2011-12 Maryland Basketball Preview
Gary Williams is out. Mark Turgeon is in. Turgeon is beginning his first season in College Park taking over a team that has only qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 3 of the past 7 years. He's hoping to get it back to the level where they made 11 Tourneys, two Finals Fours, and won a National Title. Although for this season just making the Tourney should be team's goal....
