09 Draft Rankings: WRs

1. Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech)*

Round Projection: First 5 Picks

This is a once in a lifetime chance in my opinion. If Crabtree enters the draft then he will easily be the most talented player available.

2. Derrius Heyward Bey (Maryland)

Round Projection: Middle 1st

He's quick (runs a 4.33 40) and looks like he will become a great NFL receiver. He should go in the first half of the first round but it's hard to tell.

3. Percy Harvin (Florida)*

Round Projection: Middle First

It really depends on what the team is looking for when it comes down to Harvin vs. Bey for the #2 spot. Harvin can be used anywhere, but his 5 foot 11 inch height greatly hurts his draft stock.

4. Jeremy Maclin (Missouri)*

Round Projection: Middle-Late 1st

And already our fourth explosive receiver. Remember in 2008 when no receivers went in the first round? Well that won't be the case here. Maclin (4.33 40) also has killer speed.

5. Gregg Carr (Florida State)

Round Projection: 1st-2nd

Here's a guy I love, and a guy that probably has the potential to end up being the first receiver taken next year. His size (6-6) will entice NFL teams.

6. Aaron Kelly (Clemson)

Round Projection: 1st-3rd

A lot of people are high on Kelly while others aren't so high on him. I really like his size (6-5) but he will have to show his athleticism this year to go in round one.

7. Demetrius Byrd (LSU)

Round Projection: 2nd-5th

If Byrd wants to move up higher in this draft he's going to have to get the ball more. In 2007 he caught just 35 passes, although he did grab seven touchdowns.

8. Brian Robiskie (Ohio State)

Round Projection: 2nd-5th

Robiskie's speed (4.53 40) is the only thing holding him back at this point. He puts up great numbers (55 receptions, 11 TDs) on one of the nation's best teams.

9. Derrick Williams (Penn State)

Round Projection: 3rd-6th

Here's a guy that many teams will like because of his versatility. Want him to return kicks? No problem. Catch the football? No problem. His speed (4.38 40) makes him hard to tackle.

10. Greg Matthews (Michigan)*

Round Projection: 4th-7th

Now that Mario Manningham, Matthews will really get to show what he can do. His size (6-3) is great but his (4.52 40) is not.

While I love Michael Crabtree, I'm hoping that he proves to be more than a "System WR", kind of like those WR's from Nevada in the mid-late 90's.

And me being a die-hard Gator, I don't feel inclined (yet) to type a whole novel on Percy Harvin, lol.

I hear ya on Crabtree, but I think he is the real deal. But I would worry too with their QBs always setting records and never being anything at the next level.
