The 2012 pre season All-Big Ten team

Offense

QB- Denard Robinson   Michigan-  It’s take the good with the bad for DR..the Good: only 5 players in UM history have scored 40 or more career TD’s…#16 should be #6 before the Big Ten season starts…the Bad:..only 5 QB’s in the NCAA in 2011 threw more INT’s than Robinson…

HB- Montee Ball    Wisconsin-Check this out…last year Ball scored 39 TD’s…he scored more TD’s than 45 D-1 teams…..

HB- Rex Burkhead    Nebraska RexHead’s 1357 yds in 2011 was the most posted by a Corn back since 1997…he was also just two carries shy of the all-time single season record for Nebraska…

WR- Antavian Edison   Purdue is number 13 for a reason…averaged 13 yds per catch…only Boiler WR to catch a pass in every one of their 13 games in 2011…led the team in receiving yards…

WR- Keenan Davis   Iowa Had a breakout 2011 with 50 catches and averaged over 14 yds per grab…exceptional hands with explosive quickness

TE- CJ Fiedorowicz   Iowa will be looked to more often in the new offense in Iowa City as the Hawks bring back the ‘Stand up’ TE back to Kinnick in 2012…now all we need is the ANF sticker on the helmet.

LT- Taylor Lewan   Michigan once displaying his nasty side all too often..has now become one of the leaders Hoke relies on…

LG- Brian Mulroe    Northwestern a bulldozing LG that may be the most underrated OL in the conference…

C- James Ferentz   Iowa a bit undersized (6’2…284) but very strong and a coaches son…very cerebral.

RG- Chris McDonald   East Lansing ranked as one of the top 10 guards in the country…has more than 30 career starts.

RT-  Fou Fonoti   East Lansing took over as starter in ND game last year and played almost 660 snaps and didn’t allow a sack…

K- Brett Maher  Nebraska Maher is lifetime 19-23, all of those were last year…but he is 16-17 from 49 yards and closer…the guy is money in the bank.

Defense

DE- John Simon   Ohio State led the Buckeyes in sacks (7) and TFL’s (12.5) in 2011…may be only the 7th two-time captain in OSU history

DT- Kawann Short   Purdue had 54 tackles, 17 TFL’s, 6 sacks, forced a fumble, recovered a fumble had 2 PBU’s and blocked two kicks in 2011…he’s slightly above average…

DT- Johnathan Hankins   Ohio State had 67 tackles in 2011…almost half (32) were solo…also had 3 sacks and 12 TFL’s….a freak of quickness and agility…

DE- Michael Buchanan   Illinois finished 4th in the Big Ten in sacks with 7.5 and had 13.5 TFL’s…a pass rushing specialist with the knack for being in the right place at the right time..

LB- Mike Taylor   Wisconsin finished 2011 with 150 tackles…most in the Big Ten and 3rd in the NCAA…he also had 10+ tackles in 7 games last year…

LB- Chris Borland   Wisconsin was 3rd in the Big Ten in TFL’s with 19…that was the most by a MLB in the NCAA in 2011..has forced 10 fumbles in his career..

LB- James Morris   Iowa finished 5th in the Big Ten in Tackles per game with 9.2…has had 13 tackles in a game 5 times in his two year playing career…

CB- Ricardo Allen  Purdue had 81 tackles in 2011 with 3 INT’s…and 3 TFL’s…..62 solo tackles…

CB- Johnny Adams  East Lansing consistently ranked as one of the top DB’s in the NCAA by several outlets…has a knack of making the big play and leading one of the better defensive units in the country

S- Jordan Kovacs  Michigan 75 tackles in 2011..2nd on team and was also 2nd on team with sacks (4)…he twice has had 17 tackles in a game…

S- Isaiah Lewis  East Lansing ranked as one of the best safety’s in the country..was 2nd team All Big Ten last year…known as one of the best hitting DB’s in the Big Ten…

P- Brett Maher  Nebraska Maher averaged almost 45 yards per punt last year…needless to say…a huge leg.
