Things have been relatively quiet out on the recruiting trail for the Louisville football program in recent weeks, but that momentum in the Class of 2024 has picked right back up.

New Braunfels (Tex.) Canyon quarterback Deuce Adams announced Wednesday that he has given his verbal pledge to the Cardinals. He chose Louisville over held offers from Baylor, Boston College, Cal, Hawaii, Washington State and others.

Adams was already a target of head coach Jeff Brohm while at Purdue, and the mutual interest carried over to the Cardinals. The new staff offered Adams a scholarship back in early February, and he took a visit to campus this past weekend.

“I went up there on a visit for 3 days and they treated me with love from the start," Adams told On3's Hayes Fawcett. "I’m their #1 QB on the board and we’ve built a great relationship since January. Coach Jeff Brohm the head coach, and his brother coach Brian Brohm (OC) both played QB at Louisville and both played in the NFL. They have one of the best offenses in the country and they’ve proven it with the numbers. I feel like with the addition of me I’m that offense I could really do damage and put Louisville back where they should be.”

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect ranks as high as the No. 29 quarterback in the class and the No. 97 player in the talent-rich state of Texas according to Rivals. The 247Sports Composite has him slotted as the No. 817 prospect in the 2024 recruiting class.

Adams is coming off of a very efficient junior campaign for Canyon, helping guide the Cougars to a 9-2 record in the process. He completed 66.9 percent of his passes for 3,007 yards and 34 touchdowns to only six interceptions, while also rushing for 290 yards and two scores.

He took a tremendous leap from his sophomore year, where he was able to throw for 1,002 yards and 13 touchdowns to one pick against a 50.8 completion percentage.

Louisville now sports a three-man recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, with five-star Miami (Fla.) Columbus linebacker T.J. Capers and four-star Homestead (Fla.) HS running back Isaac Brown also in the fold.
