Tyrone Williams, a 6’7” WR out of Cleveland Shaw HS may make his announcement next week, and he is leaning toward choosing Ohio State. Williams is a 4-star recruit and Rivals has him ranked #44 in the nation at wide receiver in the 2010 recruiting class. He is considering between Ohio State, Illinois, West Virginia, Michigan State, and Cincinnati, and currently has offers from Ohio State and Illinois. According to an article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Shaw is leaning toward Ohio State stating “I like the coaches down there and the players. They’ve got a good football team.” Williams had surgery in October to repair a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament. Since beginning his rehab, he has grown 2 inches and added 15 pounds of muscle. He says he feels stronger than before the surgery.
His junior season, before the injury to his knee, Williams caught 11 passes for 402 yards and eight touchdowns, all in just five games. He has a huge wingspan and deceptive speed. Using his size, he can gain position and effectively shield the defense from the ball. He has the ability to overpower smaller defensive backs on slants and fade routes, especially inside the 20. He is an impressive athlete and has the size and ability to make an instant impact on the field. This Ohio State fan would love to see him playing a little pitch and catch with Terrelle Pryor in 2010.
