Hawaii thinks Georgia got lucky...WOW

The Hawaii Warriors had a great season last year, probably the best that they'll ever have in school history. Going 12-1 and playing in a BCS Bowl Game, things were pretty rosy for the school. However, things have recently begun falling apart, as head coach June Jones departed for SMU and now a former player made a bold statement.

"As a former player, I'm tired of hearing fans and the media say that we were overmatched by bigger, faster, stronger players. Georgia players are no different than us; the problem was they came to play and we didn't. Georgia was dominant, not only because they were good athletes, but because their scheme put them in the best position to win. If Hawai'i (offense) had done the same and utilized/adjusted their scheme to put themselves in the best position, we would not be in the mess we are in now. Believe me, our budget and facilities have nothing to do with what goes on on the field. It's up to the players, and I know for a fact they are looking forward to Florida. Georgia got lucky, and I say that from a player's point of view. We gave up big plays, which at the end killed us."

That's a pretty ridiculous statement by the Hawaii player, they're totally overmatched.

another example of SEC speed and talent in a bowl game...the Rainbows? even Clemson or most ACC schools would have taken that game...HAW could have used Dog the Bounty Hunter that day...Colt? I'm not digging that guy as a pro QB either who will be good

Georgia would win that game 9 out of 10 times and that's being generous. They offensive line was totally overmatched. Colt Brennan is overrated. Nice run, but they can't run with the big dogs.

Hawaii must grow some good stuff over there. They got totaly dominated and they are still running off at the mouth.

I don't buy Colt Brennan as a legit NFL QB either.

I think he is in the same mold as most of the Texas Tech QB's that put up good numbers and don't do anything in the NFL. The last Hawaii QB, Timmy Chang, put up big numbers, too. I think he might be in the CFL now. Hawaii has probably already lost a big QB recruit to June Jones at SMU. I think that their ride may be close to over.

That's a very good comparison, that the QB's success is mostly due to the type of offense they run.

Been the same way at TxTech for years. Their QB's put up astronomical numbers , but only one in the last 25 years has even come close to being a decent pro. Billy Joe Tolliver, I think that was his name. Graham Harrell is putting up big numbers this year and last year and who knows what kind of QB prospect he is going to be.
