Jim Harbaugh Will Coach Stanford Cardinal

Chosen over Jim Fassel and San Diego Chargers assistant, James Lofton, the Stanford Cardinal management decided to stay within the college system for their next coach. Altough, I am not sure how much weight coaching at a Div 1-AA non-scholarship program counts. Harbaugh's last stop was with the University of San Diego Toreros. Good news for Harbaugh is that its tough to get worse then 1-11 (the Cardinals record last year). Bad news for Harbaugh is that its still possible.

This sounds like a bit of a disaster for the Cardinal (they're not Cardinals, they're Cardinal... the color). Anyway, I have no doubt Harbaugh knows football inside and out, and that his players are going to like him. But D1 is about recruiting, and in the Pac-10 there's a lot of competition from great programs. Stanford has the extra hurdle of trying to attract smart kids, and nothing in Harbaugh's background tells me he's up for the task. I think we'll have a few more years of living for Big Game.

My bad on the team name. Wasnt paying attention at 2 a.m. when I typed that. Even 1-11 teams deserve to be called by their correct name.

Just fixed it.

In honor of Indianapolis' win last night and Jim's new coaching gig, I might have to break out my Jim Harbaugh 'Captain Comeback' Colts jersey.

I think harbaugh should go ahead and send his resume out to a couple other places for employment in a couple seasons.

Harbaugh built the program for himself in San Diego. I think the ability to construct a program from scratch had a lot to do with the choice of Harbaugh. Stanford doesn't exactly have all that much talent right now.
