<a href=Kurt Coleman 2009 Captain" width="174" /> Kurt Coleman Out For Indiana v Ohio State Game

Jim Tressel didn’t want to comment more on the Kurt Coleman one game suspension but did with some more details today when speaking with reporters. The Senior Safety will not be able to play this Saturday when Ohio State plays Indiana due to a late hit to the head of the Illinois quarterback, Eddie McGee, in the last few minutes of last week’s game. A 15 yard penalty was called at the time and the Big 10 added the suspension on Monday.

Moving On

According to Coach Tressel, Coleman took the news well but the feeling among the coaches and the team is to let the suspension be yesterday’s news and to move on with game planning. “Our directive was to make sure that it's yesterday's news and not comment further,” he said. Coleman will not practice with the scout team nor will he travel with the team as they go to Bloomington. Tressel didn’t give a reason why Coleman was still playing with most of the first team defense already done for the day.

Replacements

The opening allows Anderson Russell to regain his starting position along side Jermale Hines with 2nd string safety Orhian Johnson getting on the field when there is need for additional defensive backs in a nickel formation. Also of note is the return of Zach Domincone from injury to provide depth on special teams. The team hopes a similar penalty will not incur for the remainder of the season.
