Meineke Bowl, Boston College Drops Navy

Usually I am against these lesser bowls, that only exsist so corporate America can make more money off of the football- hungry citizens of the US. Especially now that the NFL Network takes the professional games away from us. Who knows how many more bowls we may begin to see. Next year we may have a bowl of teams with less than 3 wins, we'll call it the WE FILL SORRY FOR YOU BOWL, sponsored by Tampax.

But this Meineke Bowl sparked another feeling.

First we got to see a Navy team that, all season, looked like a real football team. Led by quarterback, Kaheaku-Enhada, the Midshipmen put together a 9-4 season, and put up a great performance in the bowl game against BC. The option running game would have beat the Eagles, if it wasnt for a last second fumble on a play that should have been a basic dive play.

Boston College (10-3), extended the active bowl win streak to 8, by beating Navy. And I dont know why, but I had a "moment," when watching the kick that won it.

Steve Aponavicius, the first year kicker who played in his organized football game EVER this season, kicked his career long FG to beat Navy.

The 37 yard field goal propelled the Eagles past the Midshipmen and into Meineke Bowl history...Okay that is a streatch.

But in a minor bowl as such, it was nice to actually get into the game. We got to see the classic Navy Option game, that after so many years again looked like the option should look.

On the other side we saw a "rookie," kicker hit his career long to win a game with seconds left.

It was no Rose Bowl (GO USC), but it was a good game, not a blowout and most of these minor bowls seem to be.

I can't believe Navy almost beat BC.
