OSU Football is coming soooooon!!!!

Yesterday after practice at Reser Stadium, Oregon State head coach Mike Riley announced that quarterbacks Sean Canfield and Lyle Moevao will split time at the said position for at least the first game of the season against the Utah Utes.

First Quarter - Sean Canfield.

Second Quarter - Lyle Moevao

Second half is to be decided pending the performance of both quarterbacks.

While The Future may not agree with this decision, both quarterbacks are talented enough to start at the QB position, and evidently Riley agrees so, seeing as though both will start. Canfield is the typical 'prototype' QB, similar to former USC quarterback Matt Leinart. He has the size, the arm, and the field vision to succeed in Oregon State's offensive scheme. Moevao, however is the typical 'hybrid' quarterback, similar to former Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith. Although I prefer Moevao's style of play, both quarterbacks will definitely succeed in the program with the Beavers style of play, as well as the weapons that Oregon State has.

With Sammie Stroughter 'out indefinitely' due to personal issues, the Beavers have looked at Freshmen Darrell Catchings and James Rodgers to step up in replacement. Both have appeared to be talented, making many impressive catches while under heavy coverage, and have displayed speed to burn many cornerbacks in the Pac-10 conference. It will be hard to replace Stroughter's playmaking ability, but with the talent that they have, it may be a possiblity to add to the Beavers offense.

Moving onto the running back position.. Yvenson Bernard was in the top five in the nation in rushing yards.. Yet has not yet gotten any national recognition. Yv has the talent to be a Heisman candidate, yet nobody seems to know the name. He is easily better than his counterpart, Oregon running back Jonathan Stewart, who HAS gotten recognition as a Heisman candidate. But he is not alone in the backfield. Freshman Ryan McCants has displayed speed, agility, and the ability to catch the ball. He definitely will be an option to replace Yv after he leaves. With probable backup Clinton Polk leaning on the possibilty of having to leave the team due to academic issues, depth at running back is a definite need.

Tonight is just the beginning. Analysis of the rest of the OSU Beavers football team will come soon. With the Utes coming to Corvallis next Thursday, The Future is counting the days, and the days are coming quick!! Tomorrow you will get analysis of the Beavers offensive line, who are up for NUMEROUS preseason accolades and possibilities to be drafted into next years NFL Draft. See you all tomorrow. The Future OUT.
