Open Letter to Terrelle Pryor

Here is me: Duck fan (University of Oregon, not Anaheim).

Oregon's Offense: Spread/Read Option; enticing to 'Dual-Threat' QB's (read: good College QB's ... unemployed NFL QB's)

Look, I'm glad Dennis Dixon carried us to a #2 ranking and a date in the National Title game, even though he busted his knee, and we crumbled apart to end up missing our date in Nawla (I'm not glad that he busted his knee). I'm glad that Oregon and Coach Bellotti already secured two 4-star Athlete QB recruits, and as a result of our wide-open offense we are an enticing destination for Terrelle Pryor, the as yet to declare #1 recruit in the nation (depending on who you read).

But can we please be real? Why if you are such a promising young talent would you doom yourself to a ceiling of College Lore? Because that's what you're doing if you opt to rely on your speed during your college years instead of refining your drop back skills, requiring yourself be become a good decision maker in the pocket. That's great that you're fast, and if you play in an option offense in High School and College you look like the only one with skates on a field of ice. Guess what, in the League (which I'm assuming is your ultimate goal), everyone has skates, everyone is fast, and no one (read: no one) runs an option offense. You want to really prepare yourself for a successful life versus a successful 3 years in college? Find a college that TEACHES you how to get better, and NOT one that changes the offense to fit you. Of course they'll change their offense for you to capitalize on marginal defensive players, their job is to win now, and be attractive to young prospects. Their job is in no way dependent upon your success on the next stage.

Reality is when he gets to the NFL he'll have to adapt to becoming a pocket passer. He's thinking long term. How many Oregon Ducks that ran that spread are NFL QB's today. Now Michigan, OSU, and PSU...PSU alone has had more. The switch to the spread O in Michigan will bring on a different type of player, one that is not going to be too prepared for the NFL...Offensive Left Tackle (top 5 draft pick this year, not going to happen again for a while). Mr Pryor is being put too high on a damn pedestal right now...he needs to be an adult and make a damn decision.

This was my point! Oregon is NOT the destination for him, neither is a Rich Rodriguez coached team--no matter what school he's at. Penn St. or Ohio State would be great options. The point is that no Spread Offense is a good system for any kid that wants his talent to translate to the League.

And Oregon has the added advantage of stealing games with those f***king Pac-10 refs. Go play for JoePa, Tyrelle. You'll learn a lot more there than just football.

HA... yup, no arguments here, we def stole that one. But what were we supposed to do, tell the ref 'nope, we don't want this on-sides kick that was incorrectly awarded to us?'

No, but that doesn't make it right.

He's going to PSU or tOSU. If he's smart, he'll find himself a Buckeye, after all, we are the building block for an NFL career.

PSU isn't ready for a title, we are.

Spread doesn't translate to the NFL, as previously stated. We'll see what he does, so far, I'm not to high on the kid, all this drama for what seems like an attention problem.

OSU has blown the last two title shots. I think they will be in the running again this year. Pryor would have a chance to play right away at OSU, but he also gets that chance at PSU. He could make PSU a contender.

Hell Yeah!

Come to the DUCKS Pryor! You know you want free nikes for life!

Quack! Quack!

Come to the Ducks just don't blow out your knee

Hi is going to stay in PA and close to home. I just don't think he would look good in those weird green football uniforms.
