Florida State University is no stranger to the law. Early Tuesday morning, 21 year old Preston Parker was arrested in South Florida on charges of carrying a concealed .45-caliber handgun and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. Preston Parker last year led the Seminoles in all purpose yards with 1,513 and 62 receptions. In one of the issues of the FSView (The Florida State University newspaper), a whole three page spread was dedicated to Parker, giving him the title of Mr. Versatile for his ability to play virtually any position on the offensive side of the ball with ease. Last year's MVP of Florida State is awaiting an announcement from FSU officials. This is the first major discipline problem at FSU since the arrival of new athletic director Randy Spetman. With FSU already on self-probation from last year's late Online-Class Cheating scandal that placed over 30 players on the sideline of the bowl game, FSU will have a lot on their plate and a lot of questions to answer.

He's just ryin to up his street cred, ya digg. Hopefully the charges will be dropped and he can have another great season at FSU.

I hope so, but you know if he goes unpunished there's going to be a lot of chaos from people saying kids get off too easily.

Plus FSU put themselves on a 2-year self-probation. They can't just forget the Online Class Cheating scandal.

But, in all, I do hope, as an FSU Student that he is back on the field asap.

With the position that he is in in football why would he put himself in that type of situation. Im tired of immature athletes......

I'm with you kvila. Being in a college is a privilege. Being a collegiate athlete doubly-so.
It makes no sense to be packin' heat and dope. It just says to me that he has no right to be at FSU and representing the university or the football team, regardless of talent.

But how many times were did you or I make an immature mistake at the age of 18-20? Maybe not as extreme, but mistakes are common...some get caught, some get excused, and some go unnoticed. Sometimes with high-profile athletes, minor mistakes get excused leading up to major mistakes.

Not excusing the athletes, but others could assist the kids by punishing them or steering them in the right direction before they make the huge mistakes like this one/

This is why recruiting should be more than on the field attributes. Coaches need to takea players mental into account. Just once.

We all know Bowden will just suspend him for the first two games against the I-AA schools so it won't matter. Then he will be back.

      True.

Hes had many seasons to perfect this strategy.

1: Players get in trouble more frequently in the offseason
2: Move Miami from the first game to midseason so we can use those troublesome players
3: Suspend players for the first 2 games, when we play I-AA schools
      4: Act mad

I think he's got it down pat.
