The Redshirt Senior:
Can we come to an agreement that Notre Dame is actually a little better than we thought, cake walk of a schedule or not?The defense hasn't been lights-out like it was in blanking Nevada in the opener, allowing 29.7 points per game in the last four weeks, but it's not like defense is what we were expecting to see out of Charlie Weis' team. It's all about the passing game with Tom Brady's former teacher and from that end, the Irish haven't disappointed. Jimmy Clausen has vaulted himself into the Heisman Trophy discussion in leading the nation in passing efficiency at the controls an attack that's 10th nationally in total offense.
Of course, we'll truly find out what Notre Dame is all about on Oct. 17 when USC heads to South Bend, but for now, the 4-1 Irish don't look like the team that lost 15 combined games the past two years.
