A Look at Alan Bowman's Path to Oklahoma State Ahead of His Potential Final College Game
Bryan Terry-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Bowl is the last game of Oklahoma State’s season but could also be the end of a six-year college career.

OSU quarterback Alan Bowman played in Stillwater for the first time in September 2018, leading his team to a 41-17 win. But he handed OSU its first loss that season as he was a freshman for Texas Tech.

Playing for the Cowboys was not on his radar when he was putting together a 397-yard performance against the No. 15 team in the country. He visited Boone Pickens Stadium for the second time in 2020.

That time, he put up 384 yards and three touchdowns to lead Texas Tech to a 44-point afternoon, but it was not enough. OSU beat his team 50-44 as Bowman played one of his final two games as a Red Raider.

He moved on from Lubbock to play for a couple of College Football Playoff teams. Well, he was on Michigan’s roster in 2021 and 2022.

Bowman played sparingly as a backup, throwing only 11 passes between his two years as a Wolverine. After getting almost no time on the field, he entered the transfer portal and landed at OSU.

As a Cowboy, he struggled to win the starting job in the offseason before earning the full-time job ahead of conference play. As the official starter, the Cowboys lost to Iowa State to fall to 2-2, but he soon helped them turn the season around.

His first 300-yard game of the season led OSU to an upset win against Kansas in the second game of a five-game winning streak. Bowman had his signature performance of the season against Oklahoma in the final Bedlam game.

Bowman threw for 334 yards and had his highlight of the season, a 13-yard rushing touchdown. After that, he finished the regular season with two more 300-yard performances to send the Cowboys to the Big 12 Championship.

Although he did not perform well against Texas, Bowman will have one more shot to win in the state he began his career in, the same stadium where he played his first career game. After beginning his freshman season in Houston against Ole Miss, he could finish his career in NRG Stadium in the Texas Bowl against Texas A&M.

Although his eligibility for the 2024 season is up in the air, the Cowboys quarterback could have a proper sendoff to end his best and most memorable season as a college football player.
