Aggies OL Layden Robinson Declares For 2024 NFL Draft

Another Texas A&M standout is saying goodbye to College Station.

Offensive lineman Layden Robinson announced Monday via "X" that he would be declaring the 2024 NFL Draft. Robinson did not say if he would play in the TaxAct Texas Bowl against No. 20 Oklahoma State on Dec. 27 in Houston.

Robinson, a pivotal leader in the locker room and staple of the offensive line, started 33 games over three seasons with the Aggies, primarily lining up at right guard. He was a crucial factor in helping both Isaiah Spiller and De'Von Achane total over 1,000 rushing yards in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

Robinson also served as a two-time team captain in 2022 and 2023. Last season, he played in 10 games, helping A&M return to bowl eligibility after a woeful 5-7 record in 2022.

He returned for the 2023 season after garnering Day 2 buzz heading into last offseason.

Expected to be a mid-round pick, Robinson joins defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson and receiver Ainias Smith as players who've officially declared for the draft. Both defensive back Demani Richardson and tight end Max Wright will also enter the draft as they both are out of eligibility.

Interim coach Elijah Robinson will remain with the Aggies through the bowl game before departing for Syracuse. A&M will then be under full control of Mike Elko, who was hired in place of Jimbo Fisher after a two-year successful stint at Duke.

Kickoff from NRG Stadium is scheduled for 8 p.m. The Aggies are still waiting on the status of other potential draftable players such as All-American linebacker Edgerrin Cooper.
