Defensive end Pete Massaro will miss the 2011 season after sustaining a torn left ACL in practice last Friday, Penn State's athletic department confirmed. Massaro is scheduled for reconstructive surgery in April, the second such prodceure of his career. Massaro tore his right ACL in the 2009 Blue-White Game, causing him to miss that season. Massaro started 11 games in 2010, his first season on the field. He made 8 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, becoming one of the bright spots of a battered defensive line. Massaro would have been a redshirt junior this season. He would become eligible to apply for a medical hardship waiver after the 2012 season.
