Another Georgia player arrested on reckless driving charge

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart said in March that his program did not have a culture problem off the field.

Unfortunately, there's yet another data point suggesting that at the very least, some players in the UGA program have neglected to take reckless driving and speeding seriously. This, despite the fact that one of their teammates, Devin Willock, and a UGA recruiting analyst, Chandler LeCroy, were killed in an early-morning crash in mid-January that involved both speeding and drunk driving.

The latest Georgia football player in trouble for reckless driving is wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. The Athens Banner-Herald is reporting that the rising senior was arrested Tuesday evening at 4:44 p.m. and booked into the Clarke County Jail. He was charged with two misdemeanors: reckless driving and speeding-maximum limits.

Rosemy-Jacksaint was released on $2,000 in bond just under an hour after he was booked.

This is now officially a troubling trend for Smart's program. The death of Willock and LeCroy was tragic and undoubtedly a low point, but it was far from the last reckless-driving-related news to come out of Athens this offseason.

Jalen Carter, who went in the first-round of the NFL Draft to the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month, was charged in connection to the fatal car crash on Jan. 15. Inside linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson was arrested for a separate reckless-driving incident that occurred in January.

Last week, another UGA wide receiver, De'Nylon Morrissette rear-ended a vehicle and was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs and other charges.

Smart had said after the fatal accident that he didn't see any reason to change any of UGA's policies. It will be interesting to see if that thought holds up after yet another driving-related arrest.
