Florida State is taking the necessary steps toward fortifying its roster for next season. On the first day of the new year, the Seminoles have already announced that multiple players who played large roles in 2023 will be back for another run.

On Monday afternoon, the movement continued as redshirt senior offensive tackle Robert Scott declared that he was returning to Tallahassee for his final season of collegiate eligibility. Scott joins redshirt senior Darius Washington, redshirt senior Keiondre Jones, and redshirt senior Maurice Smith as experienced veterans who will be relied on upfront.

The Arkansas native is coming off an injury-plagued campaign that limited him to just 191 snaps in seven appearances. He entered the Orange Bowl off the bench at left tackle after Washington was injured in the second quarter and recorded 39 snaps, his second-most of the entire season.

Scott has been an important cog along the offensive line throughout his four years in Tallahassee. He's appeared in 37 games, with 30 starts, shifting between both tackle positions. Scott graded out as the second-highest offensive lineman on FSU's roster who played at least 100 snaps this past season.

If he can get healthy, the Seminoles have a chance to be formidable up front. Scott was a Second-Team All-ACC selection and a recipient of the Don Powell Award in 2022. FSU named him its Co-Freshman Offensive Player of the Year in 2020.

The Seminoles have multiple other veteran offensive linemen on the roster who have eligibility remaining. Florida State is expected to have redshirt senior offensive tackle Jeremiah Byers back in the fold next year as well. They'll also be adding four-star Manasse Itete, four-star Jonathan Daniels, three-star Tye Hylton, and three-star Jayden Todd from the high school ranks.

Scott is the seventh Seminole to publicly reveal that he's returning to the program in 2024. Redshirt senior running back Lawrance Toafili, redshirt senior offensive tackle Darius Washington, redshirt senior center, redshirt junior defensive end Patrick Payton, redshirt junior safety Shyheim Brown, and sophomore wide receiver Destyn Hill all previously made announcements over the last few weeks.
