Both teams started their seasons undefeated with huge wins over ranked opponents.

Now both are facing they possibility of a non-bowl season if things get out of hand.

Fans of the Cardinal are calling for a change and the Rich Rod experiment at Arizona could be short-lived.

The Pac-12 has great story lines from all its teams and this match-up should produce plenty of story lines.

 1. Josh Nunes will have a big day under center.

He didn’t perform as expected in last week’s loss to the Huskies after the great performance against the Trojans.

Many people have asked if it is time for a quarterback change at Stanford, and that prompted David Shaw to start his press conference backing the junior. Shaw by no means will match the play of Andrew Luck but should be able to do enough to help the Cardinal win.

His six touchdowns and 4 interceptions on the year is not what is needed to compete for a Pac-12 title but he should put up great numbers against the Arizona defense.

Look for him to improve his touchdown mark and limit his mistakes, as well as working on his accuracy. A 300 yard 2 touchdown performance could be in the works.

2. Arizona could steal a win

Poor Rich Rodriguez and his Wildcats have the unenviable task of facing six top 25 teams in a row, and seven in eight weeks. They were able to beat an Oklahoma State team, who could be weaker than expected, but were then destroyed by Oregon and beat by a good Oregon State squad.

Things could get ugly if they lose the next four games, but with a win at Stanford on Saturday they could gain some confidence and salvage a bowl eligible season. Stanford is a nine-point favorite but look for Arizona to keep it within 3 points and possibly pull out an upset.

 3. Ground and pound

Ka’Deem Carey for Arizona and Stepfan Taylor for Stanford are two very capable backs that need to carry their teams on their backs. The quarterbacks for both teams are prone to throw interceptions so look for the defenses to jam up the middle daring the quarterbacks to throw. Both teams will try to establish the run and it should be a very gritty hard fought game at the line of scrimmage.

So if you’re a fan of smash mouth up the gut scrums for yardage this could be the game for you.
