It’s Halloween and the Arizona State University Sun Devils are looking to put fear into the Washington State Cougars. Today the Sun Devils are on the road and prepared for what could be a battle in Pullman, Washington. We’ve covered what to expect on both sides of the ball for ASU and now we wrap that up and give you our final predictions on tonight’s game.
The Sun Devils are coming off of their best defensive performance of the season as they suffocated an explosive Washington offense. The front seven shut down the run game and put constant pressure on Huskies quarterback Keith Price. Meanwhile, the ASU offense found their rhythm and never looked back.
Against the Cougars the defense will need to switch its main focus to the passing attack. The Cougars are a prolific aerial offense but has struggled to get their footing on the ground. That will likely be the biggest key for the ASU defense. If the defense can remain in a nickle/dime packages and neutralize the Wazzu run game, it will force the Cougars to be one dimensional, something the pass rush will appreciate.
Offensively it will be interesting to see if the Cougars can contain running back Marion Grice. The talented senior is an all around monster on offense for the Sun Devils and the offense is only evolving with each passing day. Quarterback Taylor Kelly will be looking to return to the land of 300 yard passing games against the Cougars. If the offense finds a rhythm early, it could be a very long night for Washington State.
The Sun Devils should run away with this game. If both sides of the ball can play without major mistakes, this game could be over before the start of the 3rd quarter. Will ASU win in a blowout? It is unlikely as this is a tough road game. However, this is an ASU team which has surprised us quite a bit this season so anything is possible.
Prediction: Sun Devils win 45-23
