A recruiting goal for Kenny Dillingham and ASU football is to “Keep AZ kids in AZ”. This may prove to be a challenging task, as the Sun Devil football program focused more on the state of California than it did on Arizona during the Herm Edwards era.

Dillingham and the new staff have worked tirelessly at developing good relationships with local programs.

In the 2025 recruiting class, Dillingham has the opportunity to make a big splash with an in-state recruit.

His name? Cooper Perry.

ASU football hosts Cooper Perry for a spring practice

Cooper Perry is the No. 1 player in the state of Arizona in the 2025 recruiting class according to 247 Sports Composite Rankings. 247 Sports also ranks him as the No. 251 overall player and a four-star prospect.

The wide receiver plays for Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale and has racked up over 25 offers.

Perry will spend this weekend in Eugene, Oreg. visiting the Ducks, however before heading north he made a stop in Tempe on Thursday. The highly sought-after talent stopped by ASU football’s spring practice on Thursday morning, along with several other recruits.

ASU WR coach Ra’Shaad Samples is the primary recruiter in Perry’s recruitment (247 Sports). Samples was the primary recruiter for multiple pledges while he coached at TCU and SMU before ASU. Four of those commits were four-stars, including a pair of four-star wide receivers.

Perry has lined up his four official visits for this spring/early summer, and one will be in Tempe.

Washington – May 3

Arizona State – May 31

Oregon – June 7

Oklahoma – June 21

Perry should be, and is expected to be Dillingham’s top target on the recruiting trail this offseason.
