Adding just three South Florida recruits from 2019-2022, the Auburn Tigers are turning the page now and accomplishing much more in one of the nation’s most vibrant recruiting territories. Wide receivers coach Marcus Davis is a major reason why.

Several top recruits were in attendance for the Auburn versus Georgia game this past weekend. Some were from South Florida, like current 2024 safety and Miami commitment Zaquan Patterson. He’s a 5-star prospect, depending on the service one looks at, and the Tigers would love to add Patterson to the fold.

Davis is helping to bring prospects like Patterson up to Auburn to see it for themselves. That’s huge for the Tigers. He understands how to pitch Auburn because he was once in the same shoes as the South Florida recruits he’s now going after.

Davis is a former Auburn wide receiver himself (2013-2016). Coming from Boynton Beach (Fla.) American Heritage, Davis knows the South Florida recruiting scene well, and that brings us to modern day.

Sure, 2024 recruits came to the Plains, but so did several underclassmen as well. Again, Davis – and South Florida recruiting – are a part of the equation.

Palm Beach (Fla.) Central standouts Kamare Williams and Waden Charles, each a 4-star recruit by 247, attended the contest between the Tigers and Dawgs. Both are wide receivers, and both are well-known recruiting commodities among the people covering Florida recruiting.

Interestingly, Charles is already a Miami commitment but still came up for the game. Over and over, these situations are at least in part due to Davis. Having a South Florida local on Auburn’s staff cannot be undersold.

For each of these young men that visited Auburn, Davis is a prime reason. His roots run deep in the three primary counties – Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade – that make up the most NFL-fertile area of the country.

There are other recruits to note as well, but the focus of this article is to make it clear that Davis and Auburn want to be a factor with the best recruits South Florida has to offer.

And do not forget, the Tigers already hold the commitment of 2024 Miami (Fla.) Norland defensive tackle Dimitry Nicolas one of the best defensive linemen the Sunshine State has to offer.

Keep an eye on Auburn with South Florida recruiting. Davis has the Tigers in a position to make moves.
