It's a big year for coach Bob Stoops, whose team heads into the season as an underdog.
It's a huge year for defensive coordinator Mike Stoops whose defense was beaten up badly a season ago.
But it will ultimately come down to what the players do. Here are the five most-important players this season for the Sooners.

The Bob Stoops’ era in Norman has been rather up and down. He started off well, winning the 2000 National Championship against Bobby Bowden and Florida State, earning him the nickname “Big Game” Bob, but in the coming years, OU was always the team that could get there, but not finish the job.
For the first time since the University of Oklahoma opened, every student-athlete will be living under the same roof.
And wow, that roof sure is nice.

Oklahoma receiver Jordan Smallwood had surgery on his foot and could miss the season.
Coach Bob Stoops confirmed the surgery, which will repair damage done to the bones and ligaments in the middle of the foot. Smallwood suffered the injury while working out during the summer.
Stoops wouldnt go as far as saying Smallwood would redshirt this year.
