Big Ten Football Week 12 Preview My Record:    60-24…..71.4% Iowa (4-6, 2-4)  @  Michigan (7-3, 5-1)     Noon     ESPN:   The Wolverines lead the all-time series with Iowa 40-13-4…The Hawkeyes have won the last three meetings and they are 2-2 in their last four meetings in Ann Arbor…they have more W’s vs Michigan in Ann Arbor than they do at Kinnick..The Hawkeyes bring in the 8th ranked defense in the Big Ten….they are 7th vs the run and 10th vs the pass…they are also an un-Iowa like 11th in the Big Ten in rushing…this is not the typical Iowa team that will visit Michigan Stadium this weekend….that being written..I would expect nothing else than Iowa hanging around into the 4th quarter…it will be Denard Robinsons last appearance in a home game…if he can, he will play…Michigan gets the win 27-20. Northwestern (7-3, 3-3)  @  Michigan State (5-5, 2-4)     Noon     ESPN2:   Michigan State leads the all-time series 37-15….The Spartans have won the last four meetings…Mark Dantonio is 4-1 vs Pat Fitzgerald…Fitzy is 1-5 vs MSU… MSU is reeling…they have lost three of their last four games and three straight home games by a total of eight points..the last time MSU lost three straight home games was when John L. Smith lost to Ohio State, Purdue and Minnesota in 2006…(they also lost to Illinois and Notre Dame prior to OSU)…The Wildcats nearly played a perfect game vs Michigan a week ago and still lost…I just hope that Northwestern doesn’t build an early double digit lead and lose again…if that happens…someone may want to buy Fitzgerald one of those white jackets with the real LONG sleeves that wrap around you…I hear when you buy one of those, they throw in a nice comfy room too…no windows…pillows everywhere…MSU wins at home for the first time since late September..31-23. Indiana (4-6, 2-4)  @  Penn State (6-4, 4-2)     Noon     Big Ten Network:   The Hoosiers have never beaten the Nittany Lions…PSU leads 15-0…the average score differential is almost a 20 margin…Matt McGloin may be getting some heat after declaring last week that his team will never get calls like they should have on the non-fumble in Lincoln..play better Matt…the Lions have only lost to teams from Ohio at home this year…the Bobcats and the Buckeyes…I think what you will see this week is PSU really hammer the running game  after what the Badgers did to the Hoosiers last week…look for about 250 yards on the ground and about the same through the air for Penn State as they get a surprising 7th W this year…Lions roll 42-27. Purdue (4-6, 1-5)  @  Illinois (2-8, 0-6)     3:30pm     Big Ten Network:   The Illini lead the all-time series 42-38-6…the Boilermakers have won six of the last seven games, but they lost to Illinois the last time they met in Champana 44-10 in 2010…so my biggest question about this weeks game is this..is this the week that Tim Beckman pulls it all together and gets a W in the last home game of the season?…or does he wait and pull a shocker next week in Evanston against rival Northwestern?…I really don’t see how they can win either…but the only one of those that logically seems winnable is the final home game vs Purdue this week…however..Danny Hope’s job may be on the line and I think he will coach like it…I like the Boilers to pull one out this week and beat Illinois 26-23… Minnesota (6-4, 2-4)  @ Nebraska (8-2, 5-1)     3:30pm     Big Ten Network:   The Gophers lead the all-time series 29-21-2…Nebraska has won the last 15 meetings including the last six in Lincoln…Minnesota hasn’t beaten Nebraska since 1960…just a few things that weren’t around back then…almost everything…just kidding…there was some stuff….is Nebraska going to be the new Iowa (a team that wins all the games it should within the conference until late in the season and they lose a game that they should win easily and  it crushes their chances at a Big Ten title) in the Big Ten since that spot was actually vacated by Iowa?…this would certainly qualify as that opportunity for the Corn…but I would be very careful if I were Bo Pelini…this is a tweener game…just beat Penn State…don’t get caught looking ahead to Iowa Friday after Thanksgiving…don’t do it…Gophers pull upset and beat the Corn 31-27. Ohio State (10-0, 6-0)  @  Wisconsin (7-3, 4-2)     3:30pm     ABC:   Ohio State leads the all-time series 54-18-5 including winning four of the last five…Is this the game in which the Urban Way gets derailed?…since the win over Nebraska, OSU  has been in three nail-biters until last week when the hapless Fighting Illini came to town…these are the top two run defenses in the Big Ten so perhaps it is the passing game that wins this game…well, that just took the Badgers out of it…Wisconsin is 11th in the Big Ten is passing offense…quietly, November has become Brett Bielema beats the Big Ten Month…he has won nine straight games in November and is overall 19-3 in the last month of the regular season since 2006…but OSU is 5-0-1 in their last 6 November meetings with the Badgers…something has to give…I think it will be the Buckeyes…Wisconsin becomes the first team to beat OSU in 2012 with a 33-30 OT classic.
