Bill Moos and the fundraising factor

I was just in the middle of writing a fundraising article with some thinking around what Bill Moos is likely to do early in his term. It turns out that I didn't need to. Cougcenter absolutely nails how it's likely going to play out early on in Bill Moos's tenure. Read the article here: CougCenter  The most provocative thing we might see from Bill Moos over the Summer is what he decides to do with Phase III. Yes, we picked up about 400-450 deposits on seats for suites/loge/club areas but we also picked up significant dollar donation commitments for the project. I also know from speaking with our fundraising arm quite frequently, the sentiment is that they would be able to call a handful of donors tomorrow and close the gap on any dollar donations required to get Phase III done. The hang-up has always been demand for club seats. Just not enough people interested right now.   If they shelve Phase III and look to re-purpose dollar commitments from Phase III you might be looking at anywhere between $5-10 million dollars in money available for facilities upgrades. Just think about what might be done to upgrade locker rooms, practice facilities, and the weight room with that sort of money. It's a very interesting strategy. With prices the way they are right now, you could build out facilities that would compete with the very best in the Pac-10 across a number of areas. At any rate, do yourself a favor and read the CougCenter article. Then think about how you might set aside a couple of bucks over the next few months for Bill when he makes that call for all of us to step up.
