Brant Kuithe Named to ESPN's Way-To-Early All-America Team
USA TODAY Sports

Utah star tight end Brant Kuithe was recently named to ESPN’s “Way-To-Early All-America team” for the 2024 season.

Kuithe earned a second-team selection from ESPN after Michigan’s Colston Loveland was selected to the first-team.

“We talked to NFL scouts, college coaches, and other media members to select the players projected to be the best at their respective positions in 2024,” said ESPN’s Chris Low regarding the team’s selection process.

Earning the title of one of the nation’s best tight ends entering the 2024 season is an extraordinary feat for Kuithe, who hasn’t played a snap of college football since 2022. The tight end suffered a season-ending injury in a game against Arizona State, which took significantly longer to heal than initially expected.

As one of Utah’s longest-tenured players, Kuithe has been one of the program’s best offensive weapons when healthy. As a premier target for both former Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley and current Utah signal caller Cam Rising, Kuithe has amassed a total of 148 receptions, 1,882 yards, and 16 career touchdowns in six seasons with the Utes.

Kuithe is set to be a centerpiece within Utah’s offense this upcoming season. While the team has added several talented players alongside him, Kuithe is probably the player who has the most existing chemistry with quarterback Cam Rising.

Moreover, the Utes offense has consistently been one of the best systems in the nation for tight ends. From 2019 to 2022, the Utes had a tight end as one of their top two reception leaders every season. Kuithe led the team in receptions in 2019 and 2020. Dalton Kincaid led the Utes with 70 receptions in 2022, and in 2021, while Britain Covey led the team in receptions, Kuithe was second, and Kincaid third.

The Utes have a three-headed monster at tight end with Kuithe, Landen King, and UCLA transfer Carsen Ryan. The room is one of, if not the best in college football. Hopes are high that Kuithe can stay healthy and lead the room throughout Utah’s inaugural season in the Big 12.

Although he is a bit on the older side at 24 years old, Kuithe will have the chance to spend his final season with Utah improving his draft stock. Who knows, by the end of the season he might end up like his former teammate Dalton Kincaid, being drafted into the NFL as a starting tight end.
