Arkansas junior quarterback Ryan Mallett broke his left foot during a Wednesday morning workout and will miss spring practice, school officials announced in a statement Wednesday night.   Mallett, who transferred from Michigan in 2008, ranks as the most talented quarterback in the SEC. Last season, Mallett threw for 3,624 and 30 touchdowns in leading the Razorbacks to the Liberty Bowl.   He considered entering the NFL draft, where some experts tabbed him as a first-round pick, before deciding last month to return to school. The move could make him a Heisman Trophy candidate in the fall.   Mallett will need at least three months for his broken foot to heal.   Backups Tyler Wilson and Brandon Mitchell will vie for time with the first team during the spring. Mallett is expected to run full strength by the end of June, according to the release.
