Release sent out by UM. Northwestern QB Mike Kafka shared the honor.

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – University of Michigan senior superback Carlos Brown (Franklin, Ga./Heard County HS) shared the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week by the conference office Sunday evening (Sept. 20) following the Wolverines’ 45-17 victory over Eastern Michigan Saturday at Michigan Stadium. It was the first conference player of the week award for Brown.

Brown was named the Big Ten Network Player of the Game against the Eagles after setting a career high with 187 rushing yards on 13 carries for an average of 14.4 yards per carry. He matched his career-best with two rushing touchdowns against EMU, a nine-yard TD run in the first quarter and a 90-yard burst through the middle of the defense in the second stanza.

Brown’s 90-yard TD run is the third longest scrimmage run in Michigan history and is tops in the Big Ten this season. His runs trails only the 92-yard scoring run by Butch Woolfolk vs. Wisconsin (1979) and the 91-yard TD run by Tony Boles vs. Indiana (1989).

Brown set the tone for Michigan’s ground game that gained 380 yards with a 30-yard burst on the game’s first offensive play. The team’s 380-yard rushing performance against the EMU was the most since U-M gained 392 yards against Houston (Sept. 6, 2003).

Brown leads the team in rushing with 238 yards on 27 carries and has scored two TDs. He has played in 23 career games and made seven starts, carrying the ball 147 times for 783 yards (5.3 avg.) with six rushing scores.

Brown will lead the conference’s top-rated rushing offense into Big Ten play this Saturday (Sept. 26) against Indiana at Michigan Stadium. The game will be broadcast nationally starting at noon on ESPN2.
