BYU vs Oklahoma State: Studs and Duds
James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

BYU vs Oklahoma State to close out the season was a heartbreaker. The Cougars started strong and then bad playcalling resulted in a loss. BYU was up at halftime and it looked like they could win it but then Aaron Roderick called another half to where he didn’t give his boys a chance to win. The defense and special teams pulled their weight today and did everything they could to get the offense the ball.

Studs

Eddie Heckard CB

Eddie Heckard has played his last game for the Cougars and hopefully will get a chance to play at the next level. Heckard came to play with fire in his soul and a will to win. He put up five tackles, one interception, one pick-six, and one pass deflection for the Cougars.

Tyler Batty DL

Batty has had a season of ups and downs and yesterday he was a true leader for BYU. He had six tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss. Batty also caught a pass from Rehkow on a fake punt to give the Cougars some life. Tyler Batty will be back next season to help lead this Cougar defense.

Ryan Rehkow P

Ryan Rehkow had himself a game and a season. He had eight punts for 366 yards and four within the 20-yard line. Rehkow also threw for a first down on a fake punt.

Jake Retzlaff QB

Retzlaff had a big game yesterday but the offensive play-calling failed him once again. He went 14/30 for 161 yards and rushed for two touchdowns. With Retzlaff, BYU’s future is bright if the Cougars can get him an offensive coordinator who can call plays.

Aidan Robbins RB

Aidan Robbins had a good game and finally got the Cougars over 100 rushing yards. He rushed for 74 yards on 16 attempts. He can come back next year and help the Cougars get a winning season.

Isaac Rex TE

Rex played his heart out this game and this season. He had three receptions for 23 yards. Rex also had some big blocks and played with his heart on his sleeve in his final game as a Cougar.

Duds

Chase Roberts WR

Chase Roberts had another rough game. He had one catch for four yards. Roberts can’t hang onto the ball when it hits him in the chest so he has to fix that for next year.

Blake Mangelson DL

Mangelson has moved into a starting role with injuries to the DL and he showed that he has some work to do this offseason. He had two tackles in yesterday’s game.

Atunaisa Mahe DL

Mahe has been a starter on defense for most of the season. He had one tackle in the game yesterday to close out his season.
