PASADENA, Calif. — Much was made of California's decision to forego flying in favor of taking the bus to its game at UCLA on Saturday. The move was made to save money because of the university's budget squeeze, though the savings doesn't cover a month of coach Jeff Tedford's $1.8 million salary.   But say this about the long drive down I-5 the Bears made on Thursday evening: It proved excellent preparation for their 45-26 victory at the Rose Bowl.
