Two of the biggest questions coming into camp for Cal this season were: 1. Who is going to be named the starting quarterback? 2. Would it be an NCAA violation if Aaron Rodgers were cloned and named the starter? Well, on Friday we learned the answer to one of those questions. And, sorry, Cal fans, it doesn’t have anything to do with Aaron Rodgers. But! It’s a youth movement in Berkeley as Sonny Dykes is handing the keys to his Air Raid, excuse me, BEAR Raid (their words, not mine), offense to 18-year-old true freshman Jared Goff. Goff, a four-star QB, according to Rivals, beat out redshirt freshman Zach Kline and junior Austin Hinder. Goff will be the first true freshman to start at quarterback for Cal in the season opener since World War II. Cal opens against No. 22 Northwestern at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 31.
