Can Arkansas give Archer what he needs?

The Razorback continue to identify talent in the 2025 and 2026 classes. One of those prospects, sophomore quarterback Kane Archer, is one Arkansas of whom many other schools likely dream. He happens to be an hour down the road in Greenwood as the most hyped local prospect since Mitch Mustain.

As a full-time starter in 2023, Archer was one of the most accurate passers in the nation, completing 195-of-266 passes for 2,399 yards, 33 touchdowns and three interceptions. He can threaten defenses with his legs when needed, rushing 103 times for 659 yards and 16 more touchdowns.

The 6-1, 195 pound passer led the Bulldogs to their first state championship since 2020, their 11th in program history. Greenwood takes pride in its winning ways and that bleeds over to the players desires at the next level.

"I’m looking for a place that wants to win," Archer said. "A program that has a great culture. I’d like to play with my brother Cash."

Arkansas has a recent history of offering brothers with Luke and Dylan Hasz coming over from Bixby, Oklahoma for the 2023 class. Obviously, the Morgan brothers, Drew and Grant, also of Greenwood, played for the Razorbacks together if only a little while. Hayden and Hudson Henry were also recruited to Fayetteville. Cash Archer, a 2025 prospect, is a 3-star linebacker with offers from UNLV, Ole Miss, Louisville and others.

USC was one of the schools to first offer the Kane at quarterback along with Michigan. However, as for where he looks to play his college ball, it's beginning to sound like he'll be playing in familiar territory.

"Most SEC schools are recruiting me along with a few Big 12 schools," Archer said.

SEC schools that have offered are Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Missouri and Arkansas.

Obviously, Tay Lockett of the famed St. John Bosco program in California was the first to jump on board with the Razorbacks. He seems to be the mouthpiece of the class early on with Bear McWhorter, an offensive tackle out of Centerville, Georgia. From the sound of things, Lockett wants Archer to be a Razorback.

"Yes, he [tries to talk me into it] quite often," Archer said. "[Lockett] wants me to play at Arkansas"

Despite all the hype surrounding him, Archer is comfortable in his role as the Bulldogs' leader for the time being. It's kept him grounded in what's currently at hand while his future awaits.

"Greenwood is a great program," Archer said. "I don’t feel pressure at Greenwood. I’m just trying to help all the guys and coaches I’ve played with get as many state championships as possible."
