CFB analyst has shocking rankings for Georgia, Alabama, and Texas football programs

Ranking the top 10 college football jobs immediately invokes a reaction for folks. Which schools have the most on-field prestige, off-field academics, history, money, and facilities are usually powerhouses. But it's not a guarantee, as programs like Texas A&M have underachieved for years despite deep pockets and recruiting trails.

The development of NIL has changed the game in the transfer portal, but has it been enough to move top contenders like Georgia, Texas, and Alabama off the perch from elite teams? You might be surprised.

Georgia, Texas, and Alabama Ranked in Top 5 Programs

Brad Crawford of 247Sports ranked his top-10 college football programs based on order of preference if every job in the country was looking for a head coach. He used recruiting success, resources, fan support, administrative strength, facilitates, NIL upside, and lifestyle as main factors. He said the top six jobs were easy to include.

Let's take a look at where Georgia, Texas, and Alabama ranked.

Georgia Bulldogs Rank as the Best Job in CFB

It's not too surprising that the Georgia Bulldogs finished first in Crawford's rankings. The Bulldogs have an unlimited pool of resources, top-notch facilities and recruiting ability, and a beautiful campus. Their recent run has boasted on-field success and a strong NFL pipeline.

Kirby Smart has made the most of his opportunity, raising the profile of the Bulldogs into dynasty territory. He's a fitting candidate as the natural successor to Nick Saban's reign as the country's king. Smart's an awesome coach, but he's also made the most of an elite program.

Texas Longhorns Are No. 2-Ranked Job in the Nation

Seeing Texas ranked ahead of Ohio State was not something I'd expect, given the Buckeyes' excellent run over the last 20 years and Texas' struggles. Granted, the Longhorns have some inherent advantages, including deep-pocketed alumni, being in Austin, and a huge brand presence. But winning matters, too.

Of course, Texas' 2023 season alleviated concerns about whether the program is finally back on track. Steve Sarkisian, another Saban protege, is a great offensive mind. His staff is impressive, and they've recruited extremely well.

Is this a better job than Ohio State's, LSU's, or Alabama's? Ohio State is the one I'd argue that Crawford got it wrong, but it's close. 

Alabama Crimson Tide Falls to Fifth-Best Job in College Football

Following Saban at Alabama is a daunting task, but Kalen DeBoer has a ton of momentum behind him. Washington developed a similar toughness and reliable identity under DeBoer, and now he must show he can recruit as well as Saban did. If he falls short, Smart will run circles around the Tide.

However, the Tide should probably be ranked even higher than fifth. I'd swap them for LSU, personally. Sure, Alabama doesn't have the same deep pockets as Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas, but LSU has also struggled to adjust to NIL. Neither program will ever be powerhouses in that regard.
