Christmas Break Best College Football Teaser

It's the second week of the college football bowl season, and we've got a pair of games we love over the course of the next four days in a teaser. For the most part this season we've gone with one team against the spread and another on the total points, but we're going to mix it up this week, and bet the over in two games.

Houston has been the best team on the over this season, and expect the Cougars to deliver once again with another victory against the over on Friday against Louisiana in the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl. And in a matchup of two 6-6 teams on Monday between Bowling Green and New Mexico, do yourself a favor and avoid the spread, and again take the over.

There's really not that much to get excited about between New Mexico State and Bowling Green in the Quick Lane Bowl on Monday, but if there's one thing to get a little enthused about, it's that the over of 41.5 points via the teaser is a steal. The Aggies snuck their way into the bowl season after clobbering Valparaiso, a non-athletic scholarship football program, to close out the regular season, and thank goodness they did. You know why? Because NMSU has crushed the over in four straight games, and don't expect that to change on Monday.

New Mexico State has scored at least 49 points in three of its last four games, and Bowling Green has allowed at least 35 points in three straight games. So, there's a good chance one of these two teams alone covers the over of 41.5 points, let alone the combined total between the two. And with both teams expected to be at full strength, expect NMSU to continue to put up points, and for the Falcons' defensive struggles to continue.

As for the other leg of our teaser, we're all about the over of 50.5 points thanks to the teaser between Louisiana and Houston. The Cougars were a college football best 10-2 against the over, and two things are true about the Cougars -- they can score, and they can't defend. Houston averaged 37 points a game, but allowed over 33 points a game. That's just wonderful, absolutely wonderful.

And even though the Ragin Cajuns' offense is no where near as explosive as it was a year ago, expect Louisiana to score at least 25 points. Louisiana has been pretty stout on defense, but they haven't seen an offense like Houston's outside of Florida State. In case you forgot, FSU put up 49 points in that one. The over in this one may very well hit before the fourth quarter even starts, and that would be perfectly ok with us.

The Teaser: Louisiana/Houston (over 56.5 points) to (over 50.5 points) to New Mexico State/ Bowling Green (over 47.5 points) to (over 41.5 points) (+107 odds via Barstool)
