Yesterday, photos of a man that many believe to be suspended Michigan football staffer Connor Stalions — who is at the heart of the Wolverines’ sign-stealing scandal — standing on Central Michigan’s sideline during their game against Michigan State. Not long after, CMU opened an investigation into what happened, and CMU coach (and former Michigan assistant) Jim McElwain commented on the matter.

CMU coach comments on Connor Stalions disguise controversy

Central Michigan head coach Jim McElwain was an assistant coach with Michigan football not long after leaving Florida. He served on Jim Harbaugh‘s staff in 2017, and now, is back in the spotlight with the Maize and Blue.

“Before we go any further, we obviously are aware of a picture floating around with the sign-stealer guy,” Jim McElwain said. “Our people are doing everything they can to get to the bottom of it. We were totally unaware of it. I certainly don’t condone it in any way, shape or form.

“I do know that his (Connor Stalions) name was on none of the passes that were let out,” he continued. “Now we just keep tracing it back and tracing it back and try to figure it out. But it’s in good hands with our people. And again, there’s no place in football for that.”

Central Michigan is still investigating whether or not that was, in fact, Connor Stalions on their sideline against Michigan State. That said, more and more people believe it to be the suspended Wolverine staff member, indicating that things in the investigation could take yet another random turn.
