Finally got some to sit down and write about what I saw yesterday from Clemson and Georgia Tech in their landmark bowl wins yesterday. In both games I saw similar things from both schools that could bode well for the future. Obviously beating programs like LSU and USC is a nice shot in the arm for the ACC, but before I declare the ACC bowl season a success Florida State must beat North Illinois. A loss for FSU would be embarrassing for Seminoles, and a black eye for the conference. That said back to Clemson and Georgia Tech… Both schools had a history of losing significant OOC games.  Clemson hadn’t won a bowl game since 2009 and Georgia Tech hadn’t won one since 2004. The last time Clemson beat a top 10 OOC opponent was the 2003 Chick Fil A Bowl against Tennessee. Even Clemson’s win over Auburn this season had to be validated as those Tigers ended up 3-9. Georgia Tech had not beaten a big name OOC opponent since Georgia in 2008. Clemson was trying to recover from the 2011 Orange Bo...

Former Georgia Tech Defensive Coordinator Al Groh Says GT "Unprofessional, Negative"

HT: The Roanoke Times When last we heard from Al Groh he was the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech and he was being pink slipped. Referee blows field goal call during USC-Georgia Tech Sun Bowl

This is pretty bad, you could see from his hesitation in signaling that he wasn’t sure whether it went in or not.  Thankfully they went back and reviewed it and got the call corrected.  Unfortunately for USC, things didn’t much better and they were absolute embarrassed by Georgia Tech 21-7.[YouTube]

Pretty awesome day for me to see Georgia Tech and Clemson win.

Anyone that reads this blog or follows me on twitter knows my favorite teams are Georgia Tech and Clemson. Today was one those rare days where both pulled off wins that were for both programs as significant as they’ve had in recent years. Days like this make sports so much fun. Lots of ramifications for both programs and also for the ACC, that hasn’t had many days where their...

Rod Sweeting Wins MVP, Says '****' on National TV (Video)

Georgia Tech’s Rod Sweeting apparently doesn't get on television much.  He won the MVP award in the Sun Bowl against USC and the first word out of his mouth was '****'.  Very classy rod.  At least he regrouped and thanked his coach after the mess up. Georgia Tech beats Southern California in Sun Bowl

Georgia Tech needed a waiver from the NCAA to play in the postseason, and it made the most of its second consecutive trip to the Sun Bowl. Tevin Washington threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score to help the Yellow Jackets beat Southern California 21-7 on Monday. Washington's 1-yard touchdown run in the third made it 14-7, and he found Orwin Smith for a 17-yard touchdown...
