Found April 23, 2012 on The Bull Gator:
The position battle at cornerback may be one of the most open on the Florida Gators roster. There’s experience, youth and youth with experience, but anyone could steal playing time at any moment. Here’s the rundown of the returning cornerbacks that were on the roster in 2011: Jeremy Brown, RJR, 0 games, 0 starts* Loucheiz Purifoy, FR, 13 games, 0 starts Cody Riggs, SO, 13 games, 10 starts Marcus Roberson, FR, 10 games, 10 starts Jaylen Watkins, SO, 13 games, 8 starts *Brown received a medical redshirt in 2011 and will be a redshirt junior again in 2012. He appeared in 11 games and started 10 in 2010. You can ask just about anyone and they will tell you Roberson will occupy one side during the 2012 season. Although his play was shaky at times during his freshman season in 2011, he is the most talented corner on the roster and should excel in 2012 with a better grasp of the defense. The other side is up for grabs. The Gators aren’t sure what they have in Brown. Injured for much of h...

Max Garcia Transfers To Florida; Gators Add Experienced Offensive Tackle From Maryland

The Florida Gators will have to wait until the 2013 season to see exactly what Max Garcia can do, but they’ll gladly wait for the experienced offensive tackle. On Saturday, Garcia announced his intentions to transfer to Florida after spending two seasons at Maryland. He saw action in only two games during his freshman season in 2010, but in 2011 Garcia started 12 games at left...

Rename The Orange And Blue Debut For A Chance To Win A Florida Gators Flag

We aren’t the biggest fans of rhyming around here. It has its place in the world, but athletics may not be it. There are better taglines than “The Foundation for the Gator Nation” and we keep our fingers crossed that someone will come to their senses and stop calling it the “Orange and Blue Debut.” They may work for some, but not for us and that’s where you come in. ...

Baseball Recap: USF 5 – Florida 3; Gators Drop Midweek Game To Bulls

The USF Bulls were too much for the No. 2/5 Florida Gators baseball team on Tuesday night. The Gators struggled to find runs in the 5-3 loss. With the defeat, Florida fell to 31-10 while USF improved its record to 28-14. The Gators 10 hits would top the Bulls nine, but Florida only managed to put runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Being shut out for eight of nine innings...

Florida Gators Drop To No. 2 In Coaches Poll, Remain No. 5 In Baseball America Rankings

The Florida Gators baseball team has dropped from the top spot in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll. To make matters worse, the team that took over the No. 1 ranking is not only one of the Gators biggest rivals, but also a team Florida is 3-0 against this season – the Florida State Seminoles. FSU took over the top spot and also maintained the No. 1 ranking in the Baseball America...

Baseball Recap: Florida 6 – Georgia 3; Gators Win Hard-Fought Series

On Sunday, the No. 1/5 Florida Gators defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 6-3 to win the hard-fought weekend series between the two. With game one going to 16 innings, and game two resulting in a 5-3 Georgia victory, there was little doubt Florida would have a tough battle ahead of them in the series finale. The win pushed the Gators record to 31-9 (11-7 SEC). Senior center fielder Daniel...

Gators Can't Adjust, Drop Game to USF

The time it took No. 2 Florida to adjust at the plate ended up being its downfall on Tuesday. South Florida started Matt Reed didn’t break 80 mph with a pitch he threw on the night while allowing three runs in 5.2 innings to hold the Gators at bay. The three runs didn’t come until the sixth inning. The Gators waited too long for the offense to start and suffered a 5-3 loss to South Florida.

Baseball Recap: Georgia 5 – Florida 3; Bulldogs Even Series

The No. 1/5 Florida Gators couldn’t put together much offense in a 5-3 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night. The Gators only managed six hits in the loss while they struck out seven times. It was an offensive performance to forget as Florida fell behind early and couldn’t find the lead. Junior starting pitcher Brian Johnson managed seven solid innings, but got the loss...

Spring Practice Improves Line of Scrimmage

Following games last season, Will Muschamp was frustrated. Even if Florida recorded a win during the 7-6 campaign, it wasn’t hard to notice Muschamp's frustration because of what was struggling to happen. He wants his offense to run the football and his defense to stop the run. The Gators struggled to do either last season, but the head coach is optimistic that spring practice improved both.

Fulwood Excited for Invite to The Opening

Ahmad Fulwood showed up Sunday to improve his game and he showed well in doing so. He talks about it all here and on camera.
