Daijun Edwards Totes MVP Performance Against Vanderbilt
USA TODAY Sports

The Georgia football program picked up its second road win of the season against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday by a final score of 37-20. The Bulldogs battled through several significant injuries during the game as tight end Brock Bowers left the game in the second quarter, and left tackle Xavier Truss also left the game due to an injury and never returned.

One player who helped carry the load today was running back Daijun Edwards, as he ended the day with 146 yards on 20 attempts and two touchdowns. He became the first Georgia running back to rush for over 145 yards in a game since D'Andre Swift ran for 179 against Kentucky in 2019.

It was a big day for Georgia on the ground all around as they finished with 291 team rushing yards and three different players having over 50 yards on the ground. With a prominent offensive weapon like Bowers missing the second half, Georgia knew they were going to have to find answers elsewhere, and Edwards delivered.

Georgia's running back room started the season banged up, with Edwards and Milton both dealing with lingering injuries and Branson Robinson suffering a season-ending injury during preseason practice. Now, seven weeks into the season, Georgia has found some answers in the running game, with Edwards leading the way and providing some life in a room that needed it.

Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and the Bulldogs have figured out what they have in the passing game with Bowers and quarterback Carson Beck as they have been mightily impressive up to this point, and now they appear to have found all of the answers from an offensive standpoint as they head into the bye week and prepare to face the Florida Gators.
