The NFL draft is on the horizon. And this year promises to be quarterback-heavy. But which QBs will go first? Well, former Houston Texans’ signal-caller David Carr has an idea. And it involves USC alum Sam Darnold.

Darnold for me is probably the No. 1 guy. I love everything about this kid from his ability on the field to how he carries himself.

But the praise for Darnold doesn’t stop there.

Some people even say ‘I’d like him to come back and play a year’ which I understand … it’s an experience thing. But talent-wise, he’s as good as it gets.

Carr, of course, would struggle mightily during his NFL career. But that has plenty more to do with the team built around him than it does his talent level. Plus, that doesn’t exclude Carr from being able to make statements like these. After all, the guy knows a thing or to about hype and playing the quarterback position.

As for Darnold, he has 27 games at USC to his name. Across those, he would complete roughly 65 percent of his passes for just under 7,300 yards. Not to mention, 57 touchdowns and 22 interceptions along the way. He added seven rushing touchdowns as well.

But is Darnold the quarterback that should top the board?
