Does Scott Frost have 9 lives as head coach for the Nebraska Cornhuskers like a cat? Seems like it to me.

It feels like a lifetime ago when I was present at Peach Bowl, where he coached at Central Florida (UCF). He coached a perfect 13-0 season for the Knights who were 0-12 two seasons before he was hired. Frost and the Knights were so ecstatic about their accomplishment, that they called themselves “National Champions”.

Since being at Nebraska, I have conducted more in my life (graduated, married, had a baby, & lost my hair) than Frost has done with the Cornhuskers. The former Nebraska alum QB figured with the past success at UCF, the same should go at Nebraska. That my friends are where the mistake began.

Nebraska Since Being In The BIG Ten

Nebraska as a football program has not been the “Blackshirts” of old since their departure of the Big 12 to join the Big Ten. To dive deeper for Cornhusker fans, the biggest blunder was firing Bo Pelini. Pelini’s seven-year stint with the Huskers, he was 66-27 with seven straight bowl appearances.

Frost on the other hand in four years is 15-29 at Cornhusker County. He almost had more wins with UCF in one year (2017) than four with Nebraska. If you ask me, this year may just be the last for Frost.

To top off the start of the 2022 season, Frost a couple of months ago was punished for the behavior of an analyst. The special teams analyst “provided technical or tactical instruction to student-athletes” which surpassed the 10 permitted on-field assistant coaches.

Mismanaging business on and off the field is not how Nebraska would like to be seen as a renowned program. I think this may be the end for the Nebraska alum, but is it possible Frost have 9 lives to survive another season?

Nebraska Schedule

  • Aug. 27 vs. Northwestern
  • Sept. 3 vs. North Dakota
  • Sept. 10 vs. Georgia Southern
  • Sept. 17 vs. Oklahoma
  • Sept. 24 Idle
  • Oct. 1 vs. Indiana
  • Oct. 8 at Rutgers
  • Oct. 15 at Purdue
  • Oct. 22 Idle
  • Oct. 29 vs. Illinois
  • Nov. 5 vs. Minnesota
  • Nov. 12 at Michigan
  • Nov. 19 vs. Wisconsin
  • Nov. 25 at Iowa

The Cornhuskers snatched quality players via the transfer portal this offseason. Ranking 6th by 247Sports, with the headliner former Texas Longhorns QB, Casey Thompson. Thompson will fill in for long time starter, Adrian Martinez, who left via transfer portal.

Can Scott Frost get this Cornhusker team bowl eligible?

Well, by the looks of the schedule Nebraska needs to be 3-1 by the time they play Indiana. Then the guessing game begins, where will they grab three more victories? My opinion, the MUST wins must be Indiana and Illinois to have any hope of grabbing one more victory within the six games that were not mentioned.

Maybe Scott Frost can pull an upset within last three games and possibly keep his job. The chances of having a winning record or bowl eligible looks slim. I fear Frosts’ fifth season with the Cornhuskers will be his last.
