There are plenty of big names at the Senior Bowl coming from big-time programs. But Executive Vice President Jim Nagy makes sure to find some smaller school players, giving them their first real opportunity to perform in front of NFL scouts, coaches, and general managers. One of those is running back Dylan Laube out of an FCS school, New Hampshire.

Laube did not have too many opportunities to face off against tougher competition in college but now has his chance down in Mobile. He described the opportunity when speaking to On3’s Andy Staples, saying he knew it would eventually come. Having faith in himself paid off with an invite to the Senior Bowl and hopefully, it goes one step further by being drafted.

“Especially play big-time school guys, it was about opportunity,” Laube said during Thursday’s episode of Andy Staples On3. “Coming from the Hamptons, there wasn’t much there. So, it’s a great town but football-wise, there is not much there. So opportunity is huge. Especially in today’s game with NIL and the transfer portal. I could have probably left but that wasn’t me. I’m the type of guy — ‘If you are good, they will find you.’ [The Senior Bowl] found me.”

Just once did Laube see the field against a Power Five opponent. New Hampshire faced Pitt during the 2021 season where the running back went for three yards on six carries. Central Michigan and Western Michigan were the only two other FBS programs Laube faced while he was in school.

Laube rushed for 2,773 yards and 29 touchdowns on 556 carries throughout his 46 career appearances. It wound up spanning over six seasons due to a redshirt year and COVID-19. A lengthy college career after being under-recruited coming out of high school. Brown was the only other offer Laube reported on social media. He was going to be playing FCS football either way but wound up at New Hampshire.

With Westhampton, NY being Laube’s hometown, he admits the area is not exactly known for football. In fact, during the 2019 recruiting class — which Laube was a part of — there were only 14 players from the state of New York ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings and just two of them were blue-chip prospects.

Opportunity is now here though and Laube should get his chance to impress on the biggest stage of his football career. The game will take place on Saturday from Mobile, giving the running back an even bigger stage to show off his skill.
